Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is important for many small businesses.  And search engine optimization can be very complicated.  But there are some quick tips and tricks to optimize your website for the search engines.

  1.  Good keyword search.  Determine what keywords people use for your product, service or industry.  This is SOOO IMPORTANT that it HAS to be done first!  And if you don’t get this right, you will struggle optimizing your SEO.
  2. Use social media.  Social Media platforms are seen as trusted authority sites.  So by linking to them and linking back to your website is a great way to boost SEO for small businesses.

  4. Use Local SEO strategies.  Local searches are important for immediate sales and to drive people into your store or business.  Make sure you update your information and register with all local search directories (and optimize all including Google Business, Google+).
  5.  Publish relevant content.  If you publish relevant content on a regular basis, Google will see your site as an up to date and trusted site.  Just make sure you optimize each post for specific key words.
  6.  Website usability and navigation is important.  Make sure your website is easy for your visitors to find what they need.
  7. Page load speed.  Page load speed is important.  The slower your speed, the more people will abandon your site.  This is bad.  Check out your page load speed – free tool.

  9. Use Header tags.  Make sure you are using H1, H2, and H3 tags for your keywords.
  10.  Link out to quality, well-respected sites for your industry.
