WHAT IS A HUGE HEADACHE FOR BUSINESSES?
HIRING!
And more and more quality candidates are looking to social media to find their next job (ADP). 73% of employers have hired a candidate using social media. Even better, 42% of employers said the quality of the candidate improved through this virtual hiring process.
SO, WHAT DOES FACEBOOK DO? Facebook announced it is offering a hiring feature on Facebook business pages NOW!
SIMILAR TO REGULAR POSTS, Facebook allows you to post a job for free or pay to make it an ad. It will show up in the Newsfeed of a potential applicant. And the employer and candidate can communicate using Facebook and messenger. The applicant can click “Apply Now” button on the job opening and the application will be prepopulated with the information that Facebook has on the applicant.
The job candidate then fills out a 1000 character box on “Why You Think You are a Good Candidate?” and edits remaining fields before sending in the application. The interview can be conducted over Facebook Messenger. A manager that has used the pilot Facebook program commented: from application to hiring, the process took “all of seven minutes to put up an application, talk with the candidate, and make a decision”.
SO WHO CARES (well…pretty much everyone these days)…
This new feature for Facebook business pages is big on convenience by continuing to add more capabilities to the virtual storefront. Now, a business owner can not only advertise and sell products on their page, they can also hire key personnel and search for talent that is tailored to their needs.
This brings online offline and offline online (what a cool integration).
And think about all the great stuff you can attach (videos, media, etc).
BETTER CLEAN IT UP!
Applicants will need to take a look at their personal privacy settings. And they will most likely need to clean up their social media account. Facebook has said that hiring managers will not be able to access personal Facebook posts. The hiring managers will only see public information as set by the privacy settings.
SO WHO DOES THIS BENEFIT?
I see it as benefiting everyone. The candidate is able to see the culture and community of the company. The hiring manager gets to get a better feel for the candidate, and have a faster, more streamlined process. And the company gets to post job openings without fees.
