Event Marketing, Uncategorized
How can I promote my event? There are so many different ways to promote events.  And you may choose to do some, none or all of these. Here are 18 ways to help promote your event:  Share with your network - One of the easiest ways to increase attendance at events is to invite people that already know you and love you.  Tell your friends, family, colleagues, networking groups, etc about your event.  Encourage them to attend.  Encourage them to invite people. Make flyers.  This kind of goes with #1.  You will want to make invitations/flyers so you can hand out to people.  This is taking it back to old school.  But for some people, it's the best way to get an interaction and commitment. What is Lumpy Mail?

Uncategorized
People often ask me if they should use direct mail.  If they should spend money on postage and printing.  And (like I have said in a previous post), yes and no. I do not believe it makes sense to spend a lot of money on printing and postage to a long, cold list. But I am a big fan of using mail as part of the follow up system in various capacities.  Why?  Because these days mail stands out (vs. email).  I love the image below (because it's so true). I am also a fan of creating a very targeted, small list and using various follow up steps to 'touch' that list. Get Your YouTube Video Ranked

blog, Uncategorized, Video
YouTube is a great video platform.  It's also an amazing search engine.  People often go to YouTube before going to Google to help find something (especially any How To's).  And YouTube videos rank well on Google. Research what videos are currently ranking for those keywords (hint:  search for those keywords and find out who the top 5-10 are). Watch a few videos to see content.  This…

4 Words Every Leader Needs to Say

Uncategorized
What 4 words should every leader say? Is it the latest buzz words in Corporate America like:  take that conversation offline, there's low hanging fruit, let's bubble this up, I'll loop you in, my one ask is...(and so many more)? Is it management sounding words like accountability, crowdsource, deficiency, facilitate, etc? Is it words that require a special dictionary? NO! It's much simpler than all of that.  The 4 words are "I made a mistake." Nothing is more frustrating than having a leader that cannot admit he or she is wrong. People make mistakes.  And if you do not show your team that not only is it ok to make mistakes, it is vitally important to own the mistake! The worst thing you can do is create a culture of…

The Power of CLOSING Your Mouth!

Uncategorized
Ok, so that sounds kinda harsh.  But you know you have been around a sales person or business owner that won't hush.  They talk and talk and talk about the stuff they want to.  About the stuff they want you to know.  But they don't close their mouth and open their ears. They never ask you what you want.  They don't ask about your problems, your concerns, your issues.  They don't ask you what you know about the industry. I don't know if they don't care or just don't know better. I'm leaning towards just not knowing better because I HAVE BEEN GUILTY OF THIS.  When I was first in sales, I was the 'show up and throw up' because (GET THIS) corporate America still teaches this.  They teach scripts.…
